 Families are unpredictable no matter what size it is. Toddlers and babies can sometimes be "brutal" on the pets because they don't know any better so they start smacking them and pulling on their ears. So you'll need a pet that won't easily result in violence (all animals are taught violence it depends on the owner but at the end of the day they are an animal and if they feel threatened they will try to defend themselves). The best pets for families are Beagles, Golden Retrievers, Poodles, etc. These dog breeds are extremely nice and patient (For the most part, every dog is different. This is just a stereotype based on the breed). They also have a decent amount of energy which is perfect because they can keep up with children and they can tire each other out.
